About me
I grew up in rural New England, where as a competitive ski racer on the icy hills of the Northeast I learned early on that an inability to master my inner world could hold me back far more than physical skill.
After completing college and medical school in New York, I moved to California to train in psychiatry at UCSF. I felt compelled by the rugged landscapes of the west and by the Bay Area’s fertile psychedelic culture. I went on to pursue advanced training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and fed my curiosity in functional and integrative medicine through a 1-year fellowship with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute based in Boulder, CO.
I participated in phase 3 studies of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD, and also served as a research physician in the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics. I've traveled internationally to study traditional uses of psychedelic plant medicines. My time spent immersed in both the natural and psychedelic terrains has profoundly shaped my model for navigating the complex topography within.
I live in West Marin County with my wife and two small children. I continue to take seriously the many opportunities for growth that my own life presents me, and I’m honored to walk alongside others on that path.
